1. Exercising

It's no fun to be stuck in bed all day for days in a row, especially if you're an active person who likes to be out and about in the world, but it's important to get your rest.

  • Even though it might seem like you're feeling a little better and up for a light workout, unless you're really cured, exercise can knock you out for a few more days.
  • It's best to stay put and use the time to read a good book or catch up on your favourite TV series—save the exercise for another day.

2. Drinking alcohol

Some people like to think that having a nip of whiskey or a hot toddy is a good cure for flu symptoms, but it actually makes you feel much worse.

  • Not only does alcohol dehydrate you, it also fills your body with sugars, which don't help a flu in the least.
